Description
A large, splendid Shinto Katana, inscribed “肥前国忠吉” (Hizen no Kuni tadayoshi) in decent old polish of 2.48 Shaku (75,2 cm) length. Sugata is shinogi-zukuri, koshi-zori, slight fumbari with iori-mune and chu-kissaki. Hada is ko-itame. Hamon is Suguha. Nakago is ubu with one mekugi-ana.
Tadayoshi Shodai was a Japanese samurai and swordsmith . He is known as a new swordsmith who was active mainly in Hizen from the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the early Edo period . His pseudonym was Tadayoshi (later Tadahiro) and his real name was Shinzaemon Hashimoto. He is a Shinto Mogami Saku Mogami Daigyomono and is considered a master.
The blade comes with NBTHK tokubetsu-kichu papers. The saya was inscribed (sayagaki) by Dr. Honma Kaoruyama.
