Yu-Gen-Do, the “Way of Yugen”, the enigmatic beauty of the Japanese aesthetic, is an ethereal dance between the seen and unseen, the tangible and intangible. 

It is the delicate art of hinting at profound depths through subtle suggestion, allowing imagination to weave the fabric of meaning. Like the whispering wind in a bamboo grove or the fleeting glimpse of moonlight on a tranquil pond, yugen evokes a sense of wonder, inviting us to embrace the mystery and embrace the momentary glimpses of the infinite within the finite. 

It is a gentle reminder that true beauty lies not in the obvious, but in the delicate balance between presence and absence, where simplicity and complexity intertwine like cherry blossoms drifting through the evening sky.

… are a father and son team sharing interest in Japanese history & art, Buddhism and contemporary culture.

We initially set up this site as a mere show case for our own collections of Japanese art, artifacts and curio, often connected to Zen-Buddhism. 

Recently we have transformed our presence into an online gallery and shop for Japanese & buddhist art and artifacts as well as for icons and items of popular Japanese culture. 

We are not claiming to be experts in every of the categories here at yugendo but with that modicum of knowledge we have, and with the support of a network of Japanese experts we are trying to put together collections of high quality artifacts and artsite

Beyond what you can find in our store, we are able to find and acquire any piece of Japanese or Buddhist art for you  through our network. 

We are maintaining a network of artisans, dealers, brokers and collectors in many sectors of the Japanese & Buddhist art and artifacts trade, as well as pop-culture collectibles in and around five of Japan’s biggest cities.

Through this network, which we have built over a number of years, we are able to locate and acquire even the rarest of artifacts, authenticate them, handle the “red tape” and logistics of their export and import in a legal, safe, professional and transparent manner and deliver them to you after careful final inspection and documentation according to your needs and wishes.
