Fukkoku
Fukkoku-ban (復刻版) are later impressions of classic woodblock print designs, re-carved and printed using traditional mokuhanga techniques by skilled craftsmen. They are not original period impressions but authentic handmade woodblock prints produced from newly carved blocks — distinct from mechanical or offset reproductions. Fukkoku editions were typically commissioned by established publishers such as Adachi, Unsōdō, or Takamizawa, often using the same pigments and papers as the originals. They offer an affordable way to own faithfully rendered masterworks of the Japanese print tradition.
