A beautiful brone statue of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (Kannon) in great condition, signed 信光 (Nobumitsu). 37.5 cm high. weighing 3900 gram from either the Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era. The statue comes in a paulownia box.
Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, also known as Kuan Yin or Kannon, is a highly revered figure in East Asian Buddhism. Known as the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Kannon embodies boundless love and mercy, offering solace and aid to those in need. With countless manifestations and forms, Kannon is regarded as the compassionate protector and guide of all sentient beings on their spiritual journey.
Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva is closely associated with the Heart Sutra, one of the most important texts in Mahayana Buddhism. In the Heart Sutra, Avalokiteshvara is described as the embodiment of perfect wisdom and compassion.
